GTA 6 Editions & Pre-Order Guide: Standard vs Ultimate
Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI opened on June 25, 2026. Rockstar kept it unusually simple: two editions, no early access, no exclusive retailer tiers. Here is exactly what your money buys before the November 19 launch.
Standard Edition — $79.99
- The full GTA VI campaign: Jason and Lucia's story across the state of Leonida.
- Vintage Vice City Pack — retro 80s-styled outfits for Jason and Lucia, a wink at the 2002 classic.
That's it — the complete game. Nothing story-critical is locked behind the more expensive edition.
Ultimate Edition — $99.99
Everything in Standard, plus a bundle of single-player extras:
- Bonus vehicles and weapons.
- Two exclusive side missions.
- Five unlockable in-game businesses: Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo, and One-Eyed Willie's.
Worth noting: these are single-player stores and missions, not online-only cosmetics — which makes the $20 premium a real content decision rather than a skin pack (PC Gamer's breakdown).
No early access — on any edition
Unlike most modern AAA releases, neither edition grants early access. Everyone starts on November 19, 2026. If a listing promises you early play time, it is not legitimate.
Which edition should you buy?
- Most players: Standard. The full story and world are identical. You can judge the Ultimate extras later — Rockstar typically sells such content separately down the line, though that is our expectation, not an announcement.
- Day-one completionists: Ultimate. Two extra missions and five businesses on the map from hour one is meaningful if you intend to see everything Leonida offers.
Watch out for pre-order scams
Demand for GTA 6 has already spawned fake listings — including a widely-reported bogus "$225 pre-order" that has nothing to do with Rockstar (Sportskeeda's warning). Simple rules:
- Buy only from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar's official site, or major established retailers.
- There are exactly two editions: $79.99 and $99.99. Any other price tier is fake.
- No one can sell you early access, beta keys, or "guaranteed launch-day delivery" of digital codes at a markup.
