How we got here: the delay history
- December 2023 — Trailer 1 announces GTA VI for 2025 and breaks YouTube records.
- May 2025 — Rockstar moves the game to May 26, 2026, its first formal delay (Variety).
- Late 2025 — the second and current delay: November 19, 2026. Take-Two frames it as a polish decision, not a development crisis.
- June 25, 2026 — pre-orders open worldwide, the strongest practical signal that the date is locked.
Two delays sound alarming, but the pattern is familiar: Red Dead Redemption 2 was delayed twice as well, and shipped as one of the most polished open worlds ever made.
Will it slip again?
Nothing is impossible in game development, but the signals point to the date holding. Pre-orders are live, Take-Two executives have ruled out further delays in public comments, and the marketing machine is spinning up — a third trailer is widely expected before launch (what we know about August's news window). A company does not open pre-orders five months out if it privately doubts the date.
Is GTA 6 cancelled?
No. "GTA 6 cancelled" spikes in search every time a delay makes headlines, but there has never been any cancellation, hint of cancellation, or credible report of one. The game has a locked date, live pre-orders, and a publisher publicly committed to November 19, 2026. The rumor is pure delay-anxiety.
What about PC?
There is no announced PC version. Rockstar's modern pattern is console-first: GTA V reached PC roughly 18 months after consoles, Red Dead Redemption 2 after about 13 months. If history repeats, a PC release would land somewhere in late 2027 or 2028 — but treat that as an expectation, not a promise.
