Netflix still lists the GTA 6 Extended Look as one movie, not three episodes

The most repeated claim about the August 27 Extended Look right now is that it will be three episodes running nearly 77 minutes. Two things are wrong with that. The runtimes in the screenshot add up to 66 minutes and 47 seconds, and Netflix's own page for the title today shows no episodes at all.

What was actually spotted

On August 13 a user on r/GTA6 posted a screenshot of the Portuguese Netflix page for Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look showing three entries with precise durations: 23:37, 24:41 and 18:29. The listing was picked up by Insider Gaming and then everywhere else, and it was gone from the Portuguese page shortly after.

Add the three together and you get 4,007 seconds — 66 minutes and 47 seconds. The widely quoted "almost 77 minutes" figure, which TheGamer built a whole section around, is a slip of arithmetic that has since been copied down the chain. It is a ten-minute difference in a story whose only concrete detail is a number.

What the page says now

Netflix's title page for the Extended Look currently carries no episode list. It sits under "Action & Adventure Movies", its own descriptor tags end with "Movie", and the synopsis is a single sentence: see the premiere of an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on August 27. Rockstar's Newswire post is equally singular — one premiere at 3 p.m. ET on Netflix, then YouTube and the GTA VI site at 9 p.m. ET.

Asked on Take-Two's earnings call what to expect, Strauss Zelnick would only say he was "not prepared to tell you how it's going to go." Nobody involved has described a series.

Our read

Regional Netflix catalogues are assembled from metadata that gets staged, corrected and re-staged before a premiere, and a chaptered container is a normal way to hold a long single video. That is the boring explanation, and it is probably the right one.

What keeps the story alive is the specificity. Placeholders tend to be round; 23:37, 24:41 and 18:29 are not. If those numbers came from a real asset manifest rather than a template, the interesting fact is not the episode count but the length: a little over an hour of GTA 6, in three chunks, when the outside guesses have topped out around twenty minutes. That would be a different kind of event than a trailer — and it would explain why Rockstar wanted a television-shaped venue for it in the first place.

Either way, the number to hold onto until August 27 is 66:47, and it is unconfirmed.
