Discord's live code really does carry the GTA 6 campaign, and it never names Rockstar
We read the 341 files Discord's web client loads at startup. The Hexagon campaign is in them — a new theme, a new font and four promo colors.
A Discord dataminer said on October 7 that Discord is building a limited-time GTA 6 promotion codenamed Hexagon. We went and checked the code ourselves this morning, and it is there — in the JavaScript Discord serves to every browser right now, no desktop build required. What is not there is the game. Across the 341 files the web client loads at startup there is no "Rockstar", no "Grand Theft Auto", no "GTA" and no "Vice City". The campaign is called Hexagon and nothing else.
That gap is worth holding onto, because a dozen sites have now written up a "GTA VI x Discord campaign" as though the name were printed in the file. It is not. What is printed in the file is interesting enough on its own.
What Discord is shipping
Hexagon shows up in three separate places, all of them the kind of plumbing a partner promotion needs.
It is a new app theme. Discord's theme list ends STRAWBERRY_LEMONADE=20, AURORA=21, BLURPLE_TWILIGHT=22, HEXAGON=23 — the newest entry, sitting among the Nitro themes people pay for.
It is a new display-name font, HEXAGON=17, at the end of a list where every other entry is a real typeface: Bangers, Pixelify, Zilla Slab, Orbitron, New Rocker, Kalam. Hexagon is the only name in it that is a codename rather than a font.
And it is a way to get Nitro perks without buying Nitro. Discord records where a perk came from with a short list — SOURCE_NITRO=1, SOURCE_THIRDPARTY_CROISSANT=2, SOURCE_BOT=3 — and that list now ends SOURCE_HEXAGON_CAMPAIGN=4. Alongside it sits a small persistent store, HexagonCampaignPersistedStore, whose whole job is to remember one flag called hasAppliedPerk, plus a HEXAGON_CAMPAIGN_PERK_APPLIED event and a matching one that clears every perk the campaign gave you. Perks get handed out by this campaign, and they get taken back.
The four colors, and the theme that has none
The part nobody has published yet is the palette, and it is sitting in the file as plain hex. Hexagon's promo gradient runs #5060c3 deep indigo, #9a56c3 violet, #e3809c pink, #e8a252 amber — four stops from night to warm orange.
Two details about those four are worth more than the colors themselves. First, they are the only gradient in the file whose key says promo: every other theme names its colors after itself, AURORA_1, SUNSET_1, HANAMI_1, while these are BG_GRADIENT_HEXAGON_PROMO_1 through _4, wired to HEXAGON_CAMPAIGN_PROMO_GRADIENT_1–_4 and a matching shade. They are marketing art, not a skin.
Second, the skin itself is empty. HEXAGON=23 exists in the theme list with no palette behind it at all — no BG_GRADIENT_HEXAGON_1, nothing. Discord has shipped the campaign's machinery and its advertising colors and left the actual theme as a hole waiting for assets. That is the state a collaboration is in a few weeks before it goes live, not a few months.
What we could not find
The leaker also described an app icon, a quest with an unknown reward, and three dates: a start on November 17 at 18:00 UTC, an end on December 8 for free users and February 15, 2027 for Nitro subscribers. None of that is in the web client. Discord fetches app icons from its servers instead of listing them in the bundle, and we found no Hexagon quest and no timestamps anywhere. Those details come from Wumpus Central's post and RockstarINTEL's writeup of it, and they are worth what any datamine is worth until the thing switches on.
If that November 17 start is real, note what it is not: a Tuesday, two days before launch. Every date Rockstar has set for itself since June has been a Thursday. A campaign starting on a Tuesday is Discord's calendar, not Rockstar's announcement calendar — which fits a promotion timed to a release rather than a reveal.
One inference doing the rounds does not follow. Several outlets have read a Discord tie-in as a hint about a PC version. It is not evidence either way: Discord's voice chat is built into the PS5 and Xbox dashboards, and a profile theme is a profile theme. Rockstar's own PC pattern is still the only thing worth reading on that question.
There is one quiet joke in the timing. In August, Take-Two was asking Discord to identify every account in three servers that had passed around leaked GTA 6 footage. Three months later Discord is building a theme, a font and a sunset gradient for a partner its own code is not yet allowed to name.
